We believe that following Jesus is something every one of us is invited into — not just a decision made once, but a life lived out over time. As we stay close to Him, we’re slowly shaped into people who love what He loves and do what He does.
ABCD is how we think about that journey — from taking that first step of faith, to taking root in a local church, to taking part in what He’s building, to taking His heart for the world as our own.
The journey starts here — not with a list of rules, but with a relationship. You choose to trust Jesus: to receive His forgiveness, to let Him into your life, and to start walking with Him. You don’t have to have it all together. You just have to say yes.
Following Jesus was never meant to be something you figure out alone. When you choose to belong and take root in worship, in God’s Word, in prayer, in a Life Group — something starts to happen in you that wouldn’t happen any other way. Baptism marks the start of that new life, and becoming a member is how you say: this is where I’m committing to grow.
Something shifts when you start serving. It’s not just about what you do for God — it’s about who you become in the process. As you give your time, use your gifts and contribute to what God is building, you find yourself becoming more generous, more patient, more like Jesus. We don’t serve to earn anything. We serve because He’s already changing us, and serving is part of how that happens.
As we walk with Jesus, we will also aspire to do as Jesus did. came to seek and save the lost. As you grow in your faith, you start to carry what Jesus carried: a heart for the lost, a willingness to go, and a life that points others to Him. Discipling someone, leading a Life Group, sharing your faith — this is not the extra mile. This is the whole point.
Growing as a disciple never really stops. Wherever you are on the journey, there’s a next step — and we’re made to take it together, not alone. At Hope, we walk it out through mentoring, resources and classes that meet people where they are.
ABCD is our map for that journey — Acknowledge, Belong, Contribute, Disciple. It’s the same simple pattern in every Hope church, whether that’s a congregation of thousands or a new plant meeting in a living room. The point was never the size — it’s that disciples are made the same clear, reproducible way anywhere in the world.
Think of GROW as a map, not a ladder. It suggests topics, resources and classes for each step — but it isn’t a checklist. You don’t finish one stage before the next; you come back to it whenever you need a nudge in a direction. And it doesn’t end at “Disciple,” because a disciple’s calling is to help others follow Jesus too. That’s how the church grows — not by adding believers one at a time, but by making disciples who make disciples.
